Thor: Ragnarok Is The Latest Film In The MCU Timeline
For those who are looking forward to Thor: Ragnarok and where the movie fits in the MCU timeline, we have compiled a list for you right here.
Next May, the Marvel Cinematic Universe will turn 10 years old. By that time and with the release of Avengers: Infinity War on May 4th, it’ll have released over 19 films, five short films called One-Shots and 8 television shows over three phases!
Despite the “law” of diminishing returns that have made sequels less and less profitable, the MCU continues to grow in both popularity and money-making prowess. That’s not the only problem that comes with making sequels. Another large issue is keeping everything straight so the fans don’t call you out on issues with continuity.
The MCU had its first continuity scandal with the release of this year’s Spider-Man: Homecoming. It was hard to tell when the film took place. The film’s intro was said to take place right after 2012’s The Avengers — eight years ago. Meanwhile the “present” in the film also took place the same time as Captain America: Civil War.
That confusion can make even the most die-hard fans’ head spin, so imagine how crazy it must be for those who are only casual fans!
