The Marvel Cinematic Universe is on quite the roll. They’ve just released a new poster for Ragnarok, and it’s one of the better posters by the folks at Disney. Feast your eyes on this gem:
Since the first Iron Man in 2008, Marvel has never released a movie critics didn’t like — they’ve got a perfect record on Rotten Tomatoes. If there is a movie, or franchise, that people like to rag on though, it’s Thor — even though the first movie offered amazing performances by its actors.
Loki, even before The Avengers, was the most fleshed out and sympathetic villain in the MCU — thank Tom Hiddleston — something Marvel creators have struggled with. One memorable scene had Anthony Hopkins’ Odin banishing Chris Hemsworth’s Thor. It was apparently so emotional everyone in the studio wept during the performance.
Directed by Taika Waititi, who also has a mostly perfect record — despite his involvement in Ryan Reynolds’ Green Lantern movie —the hype for Thor Ragnarok, has reached peak levels. Even Spider-Man: Homecoming and Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 2 didn’t make fans salivate like this.
The first trailer showed the final instalment in the Thor trilogy implementing some of the colors from the Guardians films — as well as some of much needed humor. While Ragnarok is essentially the Norse apocalypse, everyone has faith that Waititi will be able to balance comedy and drama.
