Kevin Hart Tries To Keep Family Together After Failed Sextortion Attempt
Like the late great Notorious BIG said, “mo’ money, mo’ problems.” Actor and comedian Kevin Hart has been at the center of a sex tape extortion controversy. It appears that a woman filmed Hart without his knowledge during their escapades and then attempted to extort money from him for the footage.
Hart has come out and apologized to his family via Instagram, stating:
“I’m at a place in my life where I feel like I have a target on my back, and because of that I should make smart decisions and recently I didn’t, I made a bad error in judgment and put myself in an environment where only bad things can happen and they did. In doing that I know that I am going to hurt the people closest to me, who I’ve talked to and apologized to. Being my wife and my kids.”
In the video, a couple having intercourse on a bed. You can’t make out who the couple is but afterward the man stands up and walks across the room and it definitely looks like Hart. Because Hart is so recognizable (because of his short stature) it’s hard not to think that that’s him.
While the amount of money hasn’t been released it’s said to be in the “multi-million dollar” range. Hart called in law enforcement. The FBI is now investigating the case.
When the woman at the center of the investigation caught wind that she was being investigated, she released the video and it was picked up by basically every gossip site, including TMZ — who very well could’ve paid her for the footage. The almost 5-minute video has production value to it and is a mix of audio of Kevin doing radio interviews.
Hail and fire started pouring down on Hart when he was recorded in chilling in a car with a gorgeous woman — whom TMZ identified as Miami-based singer Monique “Momo” Gonzalez — well after midnight outside a club. Hart laughed off that video and said that while it wasn’t necessarily a “good look”, he was faithful to his wife.
Meanwhile, Gonzalez has reportedly said she is not the person behind the blackmail. The would-be extortionist is still at large.
Hart has two children from a previous marriage and his wife, Eniko Parrish, is pregnant.
“At the end of the day, man, I just simply gotta do better, but I’m also not going to allow a person to have financial gain off of my mistakes and in this particular situation that’s what was attempted, ” Hart said in his apology. “I said I’d rather fess up to my mistakes.”
Hart said he made a mistake by simply interacting with the woman at the center of the investigation. The standup comic has been open about his first marriage and how he was unfaithful at that time but that he’s grown and learned from it. He’s admitted that it’s too easy to get “caught” cheating these days.
