People are pretty amped for next year’s Ant-Man and the Wasp, the sequel to 2015’s Ant-Man.
Raising the hype, Evangeline Lily posted a sneak preview of the Wasp suit. It featured in the post-credits of Ant-Man. but we hadn’t seen Hope wearing it. Until now. Here’s the image the actress posted on Twitter earlier this week:
It looks a bit different from the suit shown at the end of Ant-Man but it’s still awesome. Granted, there’s no helmet or wings. That’s something I assume we’ll have to wait for a trailer (or two) to see.
However, there’s a lot of buzz — get it? — surrounding this film. Marvel knows how to keep feeding its fans crumbs to keep them interested in their upcoming projects. While it’s sort of transparent, it’s also fun so there aren’t any complaints here. Either in terms of how the costume looks or what it means.
People half-expected the original to flop at the box office. Originally written by Edgar Wright — who was picked to also direct — Ant-Man suffered setbacks when the Three Flavours Cornetto trilogy director left during pre-production due to “creative differences” with Marvel’s braintrust.
Fans were looking forward to Wright working alongside Marvel to make a quirky superhero film. Still, that’s exactly what Ant-Man turned out to be despite not being the gigantic hit they expected — it brought in about $550 million at the box office, which shows you the stakes with these superhero films.
Bring on Ant-Man and the Wasp! By the way, Michelle Pfeiffer has joined the production as the original Wasp, Janet Van Dyne, who happens to be the wife of Michael Douglas’ Hank Pym and Hope’s mother.
