Celebrities In Hot Water Because Of Things They’ve Said

Let’s be honest, who doesn’t love watching celebrities get in hot water or make a complete fool of themselves because of things they have said? In fact, who doesn’t love watching them dig themselves deeper and deeper by running their own social media accounts? Being famous must be hard; celebs become automatic role models whether they like it or not. They have little room to make mistakes without being judged. Everyone has the right to state their own opinion, except celebrities. They are so heavily scrutinized that they can rarely say anything substantial or opinionated without offending somebody somewhere… and then of course the media goes to town. There will always be an endless trail of celebs who make comments that get them into trouble. Unfortunately, it looks like this comes with the territory of being famous. Here are 16 celebrities who got themselves in some hot water over what they said.

16. Roseanne Barr

thedailybanter.com

Rosanne Barr doesn’t make the news often anymore. Back in her day, she was a media maven people couldn’t stop talking about. Social media has given her a new lease on comedy. Unfortunately, she tweets some not so great stuff. This time she tweeted about Bill Cosby and his sexual assault allegations. “Got in a tussle w Bill Cosby. U should see that mfer.” While people praised her for calling out the comedian, many others wanted to stand with him. She upset a lot of people by making light of a situation that unfortunately affected so many women. You can’t win over everyone with comedy.

15. Christian Bale

Christian Bale is obviously a very well know actor. He played Batman, an American psycho and a con-artist. He’s been in the acting game since he was a child, and unfortunately, it seems like fame began to take a toll on the actor. It wasn’t just one thing he said, it was the entire rant that he went on. The actor flipped his lid when a crew member walked through the middle of a scene while they were filming. Bale acted like a crazy person yelling and screaming. He berated the crew member saying, “how stupid do you have to be?” and encouraging him to think before he does something (in a less than kind way). There was a barrage of swear words and a very harsh tone. The tape was on every media outlet possible. Bale seemed… not phased.

14. Giuliana Rancic

Former E! Fashion Police Host Giuliana Rancic thought she was being funny and clever when she made insensitive remarks about singer/actress Zendaya. During E!‘s yearly coverage of the Oscars fashion, Rancic took it one step further by deciding to make fun of Zendaya’s hairstyle. She stated that her dreadlocks probably smelled like patchouli oil. Zendaya immediately took offense saying she wanted to “showcase them in a positive light, and remind people of color that our hair is good enough.” Rancic later apologized on E! News and later that same year she announced she was leaving the channel. What an interesting time to choose to exit.

13. Jamie Foxx

mirror.co.uk

Comedian Jamie Foxx was given the opportunity to host the iHeartRadio Awards in March 2015. Of course, he went all out. This included a not so slick joke about Caitlyn Jenner. Foxx said, “We have some ground-breaking performances here too tonight. Bruce Jenner will be here doing some musical performances. He’s doing a his and her duet all by himself … Look, I’m just busting your balls while I still can.” Whoa! Awkward much? the actor received so much backlash, people were furious. He managed to offend an entire community in a matter of 30 seconds. What made matters worse was Jenner hadn’t even announced his transition yet. So Foxx was basing a joke off of rumors.

12. Damon Wayans

Damon Wayans thought he was being funny when he appeared on a New York radio show. The actor wanted to defend Bill Cosby but instead came off sounding ignorant. Wayans stated, “If you listen to [his accusers] talk, they go, ‘Well, the first time…’ The first time?…How many times did it happen? Just listen to what they’re saying and some of them really is unrape-able. You just look at them and go, ‘You don’t want that. Get outta here.” Where does one begin? The thing that ticked people off the most was suggesting that the women were not good-looking enough to be sexually assaulted. If you listen to the whole interview, it’s clear Wayans wasn’t trying to sweep anything under the rug. He was questioning the motives of the women seeing as it had been 20-40 years since some of the assaults occurred.

11. Meghan Trainor

The loveable singer was not so loveable at one point in time. Especially when she made a comment regarding eating disorders. Stating, “I wasn’t strong enough to have an eating disorder.” While the singer meant well she was quickly accused of being insensitive. Her comment even attracted the attention of singer/actress Demi Lovato. She has dealt with her own eating issues and was very public about her recovery. She reminded Trainor that having an eating disorder has nothing to do with “strength” and “willpower”. Like many other issues, it has to do with mental health. Trainor is all about positive body image, it’s a shame that her comment was taken out of context.

10. Kelly Osbourne

The actress/singer/host/reality star and whatever other titles she has, really knows how to put her foot in her mouth. Only, this time it wasn’t intentional, she was actually trying to make a valid point. Osbourne was heavily involved in politics this year just like everyone else. She questioned Trump’s motives regarding his stance against Mexican Americans. “If you kick every Latino out of this country, then who is going to be cleaning your toilet, Donald Trump?” Hmmm, she is clearly trying to make a point but it came off as stereotypical. The comment was made on E! Fashion Police so everyone heard it. Needless to say, social media was not her friend that day.

9. Justin Bieber

Besides being known as a singer, Justin Bieber is known for saying some of the shadiest stuff ever. There are so many comments to choose from, but by far one of the stupidest was the Anne Frank one. Bieber was on vacation/tour in Amsterdam and decided to do a little sightseeing. He visited the Anne Frank house and signed the guest book. The message he left was… questionable, “Truly inspiring to be able to come here. Anne was a great girl. Hopefully, she would have been a belieber.” It sounds a bit cocky and a little out of touch. Fans and critics were less than impressed. Then again, that has never mattered to him.

8. Amanda Bynes

It’s almost classless to put her on this list knowing that she is in an unhealthy mental state. Then again, it’s hard to ignore all the crazy, funny, and questionable stuff she tweeted daily. One of her comments involved princess Rihanna. Bynes tweeted, “Chris Brown beat you because you’re not pretty enough.” WTF! If anything this is a testament to the fact that she wasn’t all there. No female would ever consciously say that to another female. She got a lot of backlash but it didn’t stop her from tweeting more outrageous statements. Ri Ri’s followers were not impressed. Thankfully, Bynes has since gotten help, but for a while there it was rough.

7. 50 Cent

The rapper is no stranger to controversy. In fact, he has been in a lot of hot water for the last few years. His troubles with Mayweather, his troubles with his son and child support. There is always something happening with him. Back in 2010, he decided it was a good idea to get back at blogger Perez Hilton for calling him a douchebag. Maybe he went a little too far tweeting, “Perez Hilton called me a douchebag so I had my homie shoot up a gay wedding. Wasn’t his but still made me feel better.” First, that’s savage AF, second, who jokes about stuff like that? 50 was attacked on social media and by Perez Hilton himself for making such an insane comment.

6. Gwyneth Paltrow

Gwyneth Paltrow has said and done some questionable things in the last few years. Everything from her “conscious uncoupling” to her GOOP lifestyle website that no one can afford to follow. However, Paltrow really rubbed people the wrong way when she decided to speak from the heart. In 2011, during an interview on a British talk show, she stated, “I’d rather smoke crack than eat cheese from a can”. Here is the pretentious Paltrow that everyone knows and loves/hates. It’s like she is completely oblivious to the idea that not everyone can afford moon dust to sprinkle in their smoothies for vitality. By the way, canned cheese is the bomb.

5. Jaden Smith

Will Smith’s youngest son has made himself a well-known presence on social media. In fact, he uses social media to talk about all the interesting things floating around in his head. In September of 2013, Smith took to Twitter to share his thoughts on school stating, “School Is The Tool To Brainwash The Youth”. Hmmm… isn’t school the tool that teaches youth how to not be ignorant? Also, if he believes that, does that mean that he doesn’t attend school? There are so many questions that need answers. Needless to say, people were very confused and took to the comments section to rip him a new one.

4. Paris Hilton

noisey.vice.com

What would this list be without a comment from Paris Hilton? There are so many to choose from but one of the funniest ones included her delusional sense of hard work. Hilton truly believes that she has earned everything that she has through all the work she put in as a DJ, “actress”, “singer”, and reality TV star. During an interview with Elle magazine, Hilton stated, “There’s much more to life than all of these possessions and everything. And if you want those things, you’re going to have to work yourself, just like I did”. Now, she’s right about the first part of her statement, people have to work hard for what they want. But the idea that she thinks she has everything that she has because she worked hard is laughable. People had to remind her that she is simply a trust fund baby.

3. Farrah Abraham

Teen mom and reluctant porn actress Farrah Abraham actually thinks she’s smart. Why else would she be so confident giving the answer she did when she was asked about feminism? During an interview with Cultist, Abraham was asked if she considers herself a feminist. She stated, “I’m pretty feminine. I think so… What does that mean, you’re a lesbian or something?”. It’s baffling that in this current time there is someone out there who doesn’t know what a feminist is. Being a teen mom is not an excuse either. Look at some of her co-stars; they were able to educate themselves. Well, of course, she received backlash but in true Farrah fashion, she deflected then blamed everything on her mom.

2. Brooke Hogan

tmz.com

Oh, poor Brooke Hogan, everything she says just sounds so ignorant. There is such thing as not saying everything that comes to your mind – you know, filter yourself. Hogan believes women shouldn’t run the country, WHAT! She said, “You know what? I am actually not that much into voting. I think it’s kinda crazy that a woman is running because I think that women deal with a lot of emotions and menopause and PMS and stuff. Like, I’m so moody all the time, I know I couldn’t be able to run a country, ‘cause I’d be crying one day and yelling at people the next day, ya know?” Uh, who say’s something like that? Oh, that’s right, Brooke Hogan. Hilary supporters are rightfully upset.

1. Katy Perry

Katy Perry is one of the more recent celebs to receive backlash in the public eye. The singer did a live Instagram session where she let a little comment slip about black hair and former POTUS Obama! When a fan messaged and said that they missed her black hair, Perry responded sarcastically with, “Awwwwe? do you miss Barack Obama as well?” She must have felt awkward or had maybe her publicist in the background gave her a foot in mouth signal because she quickly disappeared from the broadcast. Perry ended with, “Oh. OK. Times change. Bye! See you guys later.” Hmm, suspect much? needless to say, fans were left confused and some even claimed racism. Yikes.
